Our Story

The Crescent Foundation, Inc., was created by the Tampa Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., a professional civic and service organization, in March 2005.The Foundation promotes education and social programs targeting young males between 13 – 18 designed to instill positive reinforcement, scholastic standards along with a broad exposure to professional career choices.  The Foundation achieves its mission through private donations in addition to corporate and grant funding.

The Foundation received its 501(c) (3) designation on December 26, 2007. The Founding members, Ken Adams, Chris Asberry, Jermaine D. Hankerson, Philip C. Harris, Zannie Mount, Mit Patel, Daryl Richarson, and Joe Robinson, created the Foundation as an organization that serves the families and caregivers of youth in Tampa Bay area currently participating in the one-on-one mentoring program Sigma Beta Club. The young men accepted into the mentoring program have no restrictions based upon their income, race, or religion.

The Foundation’s initiatives are geared to meet the needs of its members, while providing them with a well-rounded outlook that is needed to cope with today’s society.

JOB TRAINING

MENTORING

SCHOLARSHIPS

Club members receive academic assistance and leadership development at the middle and high school levels.

The primary focuses of SATAPP are to develop and implement training institutes, workshops and seminars on abstinence, safe sex, and the consequences of teenage pregnancy.

The scholarship funds can be applied toward tuition, room and board, or books at any four-year University or Community College in the United States.
